Back to School: Helping Kids Beat the Heat and Stress
As schools reopen after the summer break, many children are excited to reunite with friends and get back to routine. However, the scorching heat and post-vacation anxiety can take a toll on their physical and emotional well-being. Here’s how parents can support a smooth transition:
🌞 Beat the Heat
Keep kids well-hydrated — send a water bottle and encourage regular sips.
Pack light, cotton clothes and breathable masks if required.
Include cooling foods in their tiffin like fruits (watermelon, cucumber) and curd rice.
Avoid outdoor play during peak heat hours.
🧠 Ease the Stress
Talk to your child about how they feel about returning to school. A little reassurance goes a long way.
Re-establish bedtime and morning routines a few days in advance to ease them back into schedule.
Avoid overloading with classes or homework in the first week — let them settle in gradually.
Encourage free play and creative expression to release any pent-up anxiety.
Most importantly, stay calm and positive — children reflect our energy. A little preparation and a lot of love can make this back-to-school season healthy and happy!
